‘Highest exporter’ award bestowed on V V Minerals

V V Minerals set an record by exporting 4,71,773 metric tons of heavy minerals that included garnet, ilmenite, rutile and zircon.

TIRUNELVELI: Tirunelveli-based beach mineral industry, V V Minerals, caught in troubled waters since 2016, retained its prestige of being the country’s highest exporter of processed minerals for the fiscal year 2015 - 2016 and 2016 - 2017.

Managing partner of V V Minerals, V Subramanian, received the honour from Union minister of Commerce and Industries, Piyush Goyal, at a formal function organised by the Chemicals and Allied Products Export Council (CAPEXIL) at the Vigyan Bhawan auditorium in New Delhi, on Wednesday. 

Expressing delight about receiving the award, Subramanian said that this award would boost the morale of his workers on whose behalf, he said, he had received the award.

Referring to Goyal’s motivating speech at the function that he was ready to react positively to the demands of the chemical and allied industries to expand its footprints to reach the set one trillion export target, Subramanian hoped to see the effects of the minister’s words in reality.

V V Minerals set an record by exporting 4,71,773 metric tons of heavy minerals that included garnet, ilmenite, rutile and zircon for the year 2015-16 and 4,04,048 metric tons for the year 2016 - 2017. V V Minerals continued to retain its top exporter position among the chemical and allied industries numbering around 3,500 in the whole of India.

The Garnet India Private limited, a sister concern of V V Minerals, also was given a certificate of merit for its high export volume of processed minerals.

V.V. Mineral (VVM) was established about 30 years back as a partnership firm for production of the mineral garnet. When the Beach Sand Minerals (BSM) sector was opened to enable private sector players in 1998 to work hand in hand with the then existing public sector companies, VVM ventured into recovering all the BSM minerals other than monazite, like ilmenite, garnet, rutile, zircon and sillimanite. This has resulted in the India’s export earnings from this sector to rise from a meager Rs. 35 crores in 1998 to Rs. 4000 crores in 2015.  VV Mineral also entered into value addition of ilmenite and produce Titanium pigments and projects are on line to value addition of zircon and garnet.

VVM has ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications and has the best R&D facilities for BSM in India and also the latest laboratory instruments for quality management.

VVM provides direct and indirect employment to around 10,000 rural villagers in the rain shadow region with all the facilities much above the government stipulated minimum salary norms and free medical scheme without any limits for the employees and their families.

VVM through their CSR activities takes care of the local population by helping in the education, health and provision of drinking water facilities for the backward villages in the mining areas and also has a dedicated free medical center for the health assistance of the local people. According to Atomic Energy Department Joint Secretary speech, India has more than 35% of the world deposits of BSM, but the production to reserve ratio (PRR) is very less. Due to the opening of this sector in 1998, this had resulted in 80% increase to 0.0018 within 15 years. The international PRR is around 0.01%. If the Government of India allows private sector players in this field to have a level playing field with public sector units for production and value addition of BSM, VVM will be able play a major role in this sector. The organization has the core competence required to meet the challenges required to achieve the PRR of 0.01% both technically and financially.

If this is achieved, the country will be highly benefitted both economically and strategically. This level of activity also will result in direct employment for about 3,00,000 persons, indirect employment for about 5,00,000 persons in the backward rural areas in the country. This will also eliminate any import of BSM minerals and their derivative products into the country.

In addition, India will become a prominent player as the exporter of TiO2, rare earth products and zirconium chemicals. Hope “Make In India” Programe will be introduced in the beach mineral field and thus our nation will self sufficient in terms of rare earth oxides. VVM is preparing to implement “Make in India” programe if Government of India permit.

Sandhya Ravishankar’s one more attempt to prejudice the judiciary in a different way.

As usual paid news reporter Sandhya Ravishankar spread a false news among other reporters that, she was under threat.  She is living in Chennai Metro Politian City where crime rate is very high. Our company and company owners are residing in Keeraikaranthattu our home town which is 800 Kms away from Chennai. But to prejudice the judiciary by making some adverse report through some media, she has taken this action.  One of the reporter send a mail to us. For that, our company Manager has gave the following reply. This is for the information of our members and well wishers.

From the mail, I came to know that, you have been given in correct information by Mrs. Sandhya Ravishankar that, she was in threat. We will give you brief history about her.

Sandhya Ravishankar has personal enemity against our VV Mineral company.  Our business group also owns a reputed local TV News Media since 2014.  During its initial phase, Mr.Prem shankar (none other than Ms.Sandhya ravishankar’s husband) approached us to manage the media operation.  But we denied the opportunity.  There started the enmity.  So she joined hands with our business enemy Mr. Dayadevadas as, she get huge remuneration to write against us from Mr. Dayadevadas as well as from overseas competitors.

Her mail work is to prejudice the judiciary as well as the government officials against our company.

Also a person Anton from one Fisherman village to whom our competitor is educating how to show emotions to spread false message against us, when talking to media can also be seen.  It is similar set of people who are misguiding you. 

Sandhya represents our competitor Daya devadas who was found doing illegal mining and their operation was shut in 2011.  He couldn’t bear the thought of other producers continuing to capture the market share, he took it upon himself and determined to bring down the entire industry.  Slowly he launched similar campaign against us in 2013, instigated the then Government to bring mining ban.  Since then he has been continuing the attack this industry and all the producers with baseless and false accusations.  Sandhya is one of his close aid.  We initially thought she was fair and unbiased, met her few times, provided with all the counter facts on accusations made by our competitors.  But she chose to ignore it and carry only the competitors false versions.  So, we have in fact filed two defamation suit against her.  This has only made her furious to continue with her personal attack on us.

We strictly believe in taking only legal action through court of law.  Already two criminal cases pending against her in Judicial Magistrate court and one case is pending in the High Court, and she herself filed a case against me in the City Civil Court, Chennai when we filed detailed counter to scrap the plaint, the Honourable City civil court, Chennai accept our plea and scrap her plaint and dismissed the case filed by her in O.S.No. 1649 of 2017. 

We are a reputed organisation and always taken a legal recourse for any of the issues we face.  Threatening the journalist is the last thing we will do.  Can she provide one evidence to prove this?   She can’t. 

We pity her situation because she has been jumping media organisations for every 3-4 months and she tries to use that media to support Mr.Daya devadas by writing false information about other producers.  We explain the facts to the media group or editors and they warn Sandhya.  She jumps to the next one and tries the same.  This is a cycle. 

Suddenly one day she started accusing us of threatening (without any proof of course) and we wanted to learn why.  On asking around, we found that, she doesn’t have a good reputation in the press club for she was taking sides in their election process and many senior journalist didn’t like that.   When entire TN was supporting Jallikattu festival, she was openly commenting against it when staunch TN social media users troller her.  She conveniently played the victim card accusing that against us.  Jallikattu or her press club issue has nothing for us and we have no affair to intervene or comment her role.  Some random comments made in social media by random guy has to do with us?  She hasn’t done any legal stories to support her, so she has to thrive by playing victim card against beach mineral industry. 

Even the videos of her meeting the so-called source was widely spread in social media (even a reputed whistle blower Savukku published it in his timeline).  He claimed Sandya was visiting Ex-DGP to misguide DMK using his closeness to DMK.  So that also was blamed on us.  In fact someone in social media picked up the video from social media and sent to us saying Sandhya was meeting to conspire against us.  We can only ignore such things. 

We must tell you, it is a big nexus in which Sandya is involved in and they have the habit of publishing a story every time a court hearing for this beach mineral case comes to court.  Their intention is only to cause pre-judice against us in the minds of the judges, so that justice can be delayed.  At present she want help media people like from you, as, one our case is listed for hearing for 11^th September 2019. So before that, she want to create one story against us to prejudice the judiciary. I think your mail is the first step for her story.

One of my employee who manage one personal blog http://vetri3337.blogspot.in/.    You can find lot of information about Sandhya Ravishankar.  Also please ask your so-called sources, friends of Sandya or even Sandya why they conveniently forgot to talk to Daya devadas or their illegal mining in 2011.  We are sure she never disclosed the fact that her husband was denied an opportunity in our group.  With personal enmity and history in the past, do you think she will give a fair opinion on us?  You are being used to fulfil her vengeance.  Please take a clear call.

Once again I kindly urge you to dig more about the personal enmity Sandya Ravishankar has with us, ever since her husband was denied an opportunity.  Consider the fact that she doesn’t spell a word about her friend Daya devadas ill-legal mining in any single report, Nothing as on date.  Further, you may aware that there are lot of big crime cases happened Chennai and other cities. But she did not tell anything about in her report too. But we are in south end of India and we are doing our business as per act and rules. But she always used to create false reports and spread in the various medias as a habit by getting some benefits from our competitors to spoil our company reputation whenever court cases coming for enquiry.  

If you look that, the way she is using sand mining to deceive you about Heavy mineral mining, the way she generically refers to us as violators especially when reports like Sahoo report specifically confirmed we are acting as per law.  All this will clearly say how biased Sandya Ravishankar is.   She is not a crusader against illegal mining like how she claims she is.  In fact, if she has to talk to illegal mining she has to talk about widespread illegal river sand mining, or iron ore mining or coal mining or Daya devadas illegal mining.  How convenient it is to work with an agenda?  I believe you or the media you are associated with are not working with an agenda and you will study those documents and take a learned decision. 

We once again assure you that, all the allegations made by Sandhya Ravishankar is a created story for the money she has received from our competitors.  Already we have initiated two criminal cases. Our legal department to take steps to file another three cases and we will fight only through court of law. In case, she has any evidence against us about the threatening, she is free to file a case in court of law.

We hope that, you may spread this (our) reply to your networks all over the world to understand the real face of Sandhya ravisankar.
